May is Historic Preservation Month

This month we celebrate historic preservation month with a look at some of the architectural elements on our beautiful downtown buildings. First Up....Cornice

 Preservation Spotlight: The Cornice!
It’s Historic Preservation Month, and we’re taking a moment to look up — literally!  This decorative feature at the top edge of the building is called a cornice. Often overlooked, cornices add character, craftsmanship, and historic charm to our downtown architecture.

This one at 446 W. Main, Yukon was built in 1920 and is a great example of how even the smallest details deserve to be preserved and appreciated.

Let’s celebrate the elements that make our buildings unique — from the ground floor to the roofline!
